Keens Steakhouse
About This Spot
Stepping into Keens Steakhouse is like entering a cherished piece of New York history, where time feels gently suspended amid the hum of conversation and clinking glasses. The atmosphere strikes a rare balance—warm and inviting yet undeniably grand, with the quiet dignity of a classic steakhouse steeped in tradition. Whether you arrive at the bar for a casual bite or settle into one of the many intimate dining rooms, there’s a comforting pulse here that invites slowing down and savoring the moment.
Here, the pace unspools naturally. There’s a respectful attentiveness in the air—the kind that makes you feel well looked after without ever rushing the experience. You’ll notice the subtle details that tell stories: walls adorned with pipe displays, old photographs, and subtle nods to the place’s storied past. It’s a setting where celebrations quietly happen alongside everyday meals, encouraging shared laughter and the relaxed pleasure of good company.
The food at Keens carries the same thoughtful spirit. Rather than simply ordering a steak, you’re invited into an experience defined by carefully selected cuts cooked with attentive precision. Each dish seems designed to be savored over conversation—be it the deeply satisfying richness of a prime rib cut or the unexpected comfort of a perfectly executed side that pairs seamlessly. Sweet moments linger as well, from tangy key lime pie to the gentle warmth of rich desserts, rounding out the meal with a satisfying sense of completion.
Guests often find themselves returning not just for the flavors but for the subtle rhythms of the place—the familiar gesture of freshly baked rolls arriving alongside a small plate of pickles and rustic vegetables, the quietly confident service that adapts to the moment, and the small conversations carried by staff who clearly care. There’s a human warmth here that resonates long after the meal, quietly woven into the night’s unfolding stories.
Whether it’s a milestone celebration or a simple evening of indulgence, Keens offers a place where history, hospitality, and well-crafted food come together naturally—a place where every visit feels distinct yet comfortably familiar.

Me and my fiance have been coming to keens to celebrate my birthday, and other milestones for the last 4 years, and every time it delivers. Service is always outstanding, they’re attentive but not overbearing, we’ve eaten in pretty much every room and they are all wonderful. The Bar also serves its own menu as well as the main menu. Prime Rib Hash is a must if you’re eating at the Bar. The Prime Rib itself is a generous portion and always spot on, but their best cut will always be the goat. Can’t wait till our next dinner here.

I was trying for 3 days to get a table, but I finally managed. It was worth it. Probably the best Tbone I had in my life, and creamed spinach to pair. The trick about the sides, they are meant for 2, so you can ask for half a portion if alone. I also tried their key lime pie, which was great, but honestly, after the whole steak I had trouble finishing it. Service by Iryna was fantastic, professional, but also very friendly. Definitely a must visit, just make sure to book a table few days in advance

I have never experienced a place like this before. I was so moved by the taste and the incredible service that I had to leave a review. I ordered my steak medium-well with grilled vegetables, but it came out well-done. I was a bit hesitant to bring it up, but when I did, both the server and the manager came over to apologize sincerely. They immediately replaced the steak, even though I had already eaten some of it. They even brought a fresh side of grilled vegetables, insisting that I should enjoy them together with the new steak. Hands down, this was the best meal I’ve had in New York and the best service I’ve experienced anywhere in the world.

Best steak that I've ever had, well worth the price. A place with rich and interesting history After being seated we automatically received a basket of rolls a a plate of what I've never seen, pickles, olives, carrots and celery. The food was absolutely delicious and it melted in your mouth. My wife and I split a steak that was well over 2 ½ inches.

Classic NYC steakhouse by The Garden, went before a Ranger game. Checked day of and they were able to accommodate us near the bar, which was perfect. Good cocktails to start and a surprisingly curated beer selection (not big but everything excellent). Standout was the bone in prime rib, available even on Monday, which was about 30 oz. Beautiful cut, perfectly cooked, highly recommended. Porterhouse was big and couldn't be better and filet was spot on. Excellent whisky list as well

Keens. A must visit while in NYC. A classic steakhouse that will give you a cut of steak that is bigger than you! An absolute jewel. Everywhere you look you see something vintage and unique. Giant flake salt on top of the steaks absolutely delicious. We were here as guests with a company party They sent around large cocktail shrimp and lamb lollipops as the appetizers They had a set menu for our group— I ordered the filet and green beans with dessert being chocolate mousse

We enjoyed the world renowed mutton. The cream spinach was great! We found the porter house to be bland, on the chewy side. The homemade ginger ale was refreshing. Ambiance was a 10/10, traditional steakhouse at its finest. Service was good however, staff did not seem to be as accomodating and friendly.

Keen's lived up to the hype. The building is this old-fashioned New York City steakhouse that never lost its charm. It was cool that we were sat in the Roosevelt room, where the legend has it that he hunted the moose that's on the wall. My wife's fillet was cooked perfectly, and my mutton chop was absolutely divine. Our server Jacob was amazing. He is such a great server and made our experience even more special.
